Things are getting strange in the House of Gideon…
Spring comes early to Pleasant Valley and with it comes a weird electrical current which surrounds the House of Gideon, making its inhabitants feel on edge. Thinking their restlessness has to do with being confined due to storms or Spring Fever, Ali talks her fellow clansmen into going to one of the local dives and mayhem, in the form of a good old-fashioned bar fight, ensues.
Pete, still recovering from the rogue vampire attack in Boston a few months back, gets knocked out, Ali ends up with a broken nose and Kane kisses Skylar. Twice. What’s worse is she liked it!
At the end of the night, Skylar decides to walk home and discovers a natural wolf caught in a trap, of all things, which have been outlawed for years. When she’s unable to release the trap from the wolf’s hind leg, she stays with the animal rather than leave it unprotected and awakens the next morning able to communicate with the creature.
If that isn’t bad enough, Skylar finds herself inexplicably drawn to Kane. And Kane, who has always liked his women sweet and feminine, finds himself drawn to her as well…leather pants, combat boots and all.
As Skylar and Kane try to fight their attraction for one another, Jackson Terry also finds himself fighting an unwanted attraction to a human, who the Alpha Female, Penny Gideon, is convinced is meant to be part of the clan, regardless of how he feels about it.
But Penny has issues of her own. She hasn’t had a proper vision in months and “sees” nothing that can help her new husband and leader of the clan, Michael Gideon, find whoever’s been setting the traps throughout the forest that spans from the estate all the way to Lakota lands.
Then, something truly bizarre happens and leaves Penny wondering if she’s actually human after all…

Once again Michelle has seamlessly mixed sensuality,action,mystery,and humor. Not only did I fall more in love with the Gideon clan, somehow Michelle has made me fall for the new characters as well. I can not wait to see what role they will play within the clan. Amazing book, and I can not wait to see what's in store for my favorite heroine!
